Follow each step of the customer journey
A view shows exposure. A page visit shows interest. A paid order shows a transaction. A collected order shows fulfillment. A repeat purchase shows another decision. These events answer different questions and should remain distinct in reporting.
Start with a small set of measures your business can verify. Identify the source, reporting period and any gaps. A partial report can still be useful when its limits are visible. A complete-looking number assembled from missing evidence can be misleading.
Give attribution the right meaning
An offer code or tracked destination can connect a purchase to a campaign. It cannot establish what the person would have done without that campaign. Someone may have been a regular customer or seen the business through several channels.
Use language that matches the evidence. Recorded purchases, provider-confirmed orders and estimated lift are different categories. Do not add platform reach figures together as if they represented unique local people.
Include the cost of earning the sale
Consider product cost, incentives, creator compensation, hosted products, advertising, payment fees and extra staff time. The subscription is another cost the program needs to justify. Revenue can rise while contribution falls.
For an illustrative $12 order with $5 of contribution before marketing, recovering a $399 fee requires 80 additional orders under those assumptions. That is an example, not a claim about your margin or campaign performance. Change the inputs to match the actual business.
Use a comparison before claiming lift
Where practical, compare eligible customer groups or stagger the campaign across comparable periods. Account for seasonality, holidays, weather, menu changes and other promotions. Small samples can provide direction while remaining too uncertain for a precise lift claim.
Use the results to change a specific part of the workflow. Better local targeting, a clearer destination or a more relevant release may be more valuable than increasing content volume. The goal is a repeatable customer relationship that works economically.
Common questions
Does Sagenta guarantee return on investment?
No. Outcomes depend on the business, campaign, audience and fulfillment. Scope and measurement are agreed before work begins.
Can all sales be attributed to a creator?
No. Measurement has coverage limits, and attribution does not establish causality. Reports should describe the source and what is unknown.
